Depression Suicide

Most people, even those how suffer multiple depression symptoms, don’t consider suicide as an option. Suicide due to depression is called depression suicide. 15% of people that have been diagnosed with severe depression actually commit a depression suicide.

                                      

Untreated depression can therefore increase the patient’s chances of committing a depression suicide. Having or expression depression suicide thoughts is not just a symptom of severe depression and it can also manifest in other mental disorders.Even a moderate depression patient can have depression suicide thoughts, when two or more of the risk factors persists.

Proper treatment of depression relives the symptoms and usually also eliminates those thoughts. Most of the depression suicide attempts fail, in fact just 1 out of 8-25 attempts ends tragically. Most of the time expression a depression suicide thought is the patient’s way of expression his/her pain and hopelessness, and of course not everybody that mention depression suicide will actually commit it. Nevertheless, any expression of depression suicide thought or plan should be taken very seriously. A suicidal depressed person should be under a constant mental care and should never be left alone in order to prevent him from committing depression suicide.

Risk Factors for depression suicide:

There are some known risk factors for depression suicide. Note, that having one or two of the list does not mean the person is going to kill himself. Depression suicide is a complex situation that usually involves at least two of the factors but it must involve one mental disorder or more.

Here are the Risk factors for depression suicide: 

  • Family history of mental one disorder or more.

  • Family history of depression suicide attempts.                                                                                                                     

  • Mental or physical abuse, including sexual abuse within the family.

  • previous depression suicide attempts

  • impulsive personality is another depression suicide risk factor

  • Exposure to depression suicide attempt in the family or in the media.

  • Having access to weapon, especially to firearm.

  • Use of drugs and alcohol

  • A stressful traumatizing event of loss such as death of a loved one or separation due to divorce.

  • The majority of suicide attempts are expressions of extreme distress that need to be addressed, and not just as harmless bid for attention. Help prevent depression suicide:

There is a lot to do in order to help prevent depression suicide. If you know a friend or a family member that has been diagnosed with depression and you hear him/her say anything about committing a depression suicide or even thinking about depression suicide, you should take action immediately. Depression suicide thoughts should be taken very seriously. Even if you don’t really believe that he/she is going to actually do it, you still have to put him/her under constant mental care. Don’t leave him/her alone and eliminate his/her exposure to weapon.
